Family Vacation

We went on a vacation down to Southern California. We spent time with Adam's parents and his brother, Craig. While we were there we went to a Dodger game. Then we went down to Ramona. While we were there we visited my Grandpa Gygi and Aunt Paula and her family. Next we visited my Grandma Hamill. We also went to Sea World while we were down there. The first half of the vacation was pretty rough because Carinn and Emily both got pretty sick, but we were able to have more fun the last few days. Here are some pictures. (Sorry, I haven't figured out how to format everything just right yet.)

Emily got to drive Grandpa Davies' newest toy - a remote-control police car.

That's the four of us at the game. Carinn wasn't feeling well, and I can't explain why I look funny!

This was taken while Carinn was still sick. She was very clingy, so she found objects that comforted her. Here it was a paper bowl and a towel that did the trick.

This is while Emily was sick. She wasn't interested in looking at the camera because she didn't feel like moving at all. At least we had a nice patio where we were staying.
Carinn wanted to go to church with her socks all the way up. I didn't mind her wearing them like that at the hotel. The funny thing is, I forgot to fix them before we got to church.
This is the four of us with my Grandma Hamill at her home. We had a really nice visit with her.
Here we are with my Grandpa Gygi at Paula's house. We went to church with them and then ate all their dinner. It was a lot of fun.

Finally a day when both girls were happy!! They were trying out their hats that day.

Some pictures from Sea World: Adam and Emily at the penguin exhibit. (Carinn was behind me, running around without her shoes on.) Emily and me trying to get a glimpse of Shamu or any other killer whale. (This time, Carinn was sleeping in her stroller. It was a long day.)

Family Time

I want to share with you a typical example of Carinn's ability to focus.
Last night we were getting ready for family prayer and this is what happened:
Carinn picked up a toy milk carton from the play kitchen set.
Carinn: "Juice! Mmmm." She pretends to take a drink and smacks her lips in satisfaction.
Mom: "Okay, let's pray."
Dad: "Fold your arms."
Carinn: "How!" (meaning "cow" - she doesn't usually start her words with the consonants yet)
Mom: "Yes, cow."
Carinn: "Hoo!" (meaning "moo" - and she usually speaks in exclamations because she's excited to know so much)
Mom: "Yes, cow says moo. Let's say prayer."
Dad: "Carinn, it's time to pray."
Carinn: "Baby!" (She picks up a little baby doll.)
Mom: "Yes, that's a baby. Let's pray!"
Carinn: She gives the baby a big hug and a big kiss.
Dad: "Fold your arms, Carinn. It's prayer time!!"

It's moments like this (and they've been happenning very often lately) that make us laugh and realize what a blessing it is to have such wonderful daughters. Now let's just hope we always think they're wonderful!

We're Joining the "Club"!

Well, I'm starting a blog. I guess that's progress since I didn't even know what that meant a year ago.
I think this will be a good way for us to keep in touch with our friends (especially the friends we haven't been good at keeping in touch with). I plan to post something about once a week, but I'm not making any promises.
I hope you enjoy what we have to share!
